Journal ArticleDOI

Leptospira and leptospirosis.

TL;DR: The recent development of defined mutagenesis systems for Leptospira heralds the potential for gaining a much improved understanding of pathogenesis in leptospirosis, and shows promise for the development of vaccines based on defined protective antigens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics of Leptospira interrogans infection in hamsters after intradermal and subcutaneous challenge.

TL;DR: The intradermal and subcutaneous challenge routes result in significant differences in the kinetics of dissemination and disease after challenge with L. interrogans serovar Copenhageni strain Fiocruz L1-130 at an experimental dose of 2×106 leptospires, providing new information regarding infection kinetics in the hamster model ofLeptospirosis.
Journal Article

Seroprevalencia del leptospirosis en perros callejeros del norte de la ciudad de México

TL;DR: Sera of 135 stray dogs from the Luis Pasteur canine Control Center in Aragon in Mexico City were screened for Leptospira antibody by the microscopic agglutination test, and the highest titrers were against L. castellonis, L. canicola,L.
Journal Article

Detección de anticuerpos contra Leptospira interrogans en bovinos de hatos lecheros en el valle de Atlixco, Puebla, mediante la prueba de aglutinación microscópica

TL;DR: A serologic study using the microscopic agglutination test in 12 niilk herds around the Atlixco Valley, Puebla, Mexico, with 18 serovarieties of Leptospira interrvgans from 116 serum samples showed an 84.48% of prevailing antibodies with titres between 1:50 to 1:800.
