TL;DR: The finding of duct involvement, proven with an incomplete p63-positive basal layer surrounding a minority of tumor cell nests and cysts, raised the possibility of a ductal epithelial origin for MASC, and reinforce MASC as a unique low-grade salivary gland tumor entity with morphologic overlap with AciCC, MEC, and cystadenocarcinoma.

Expression of HER-2/neu gene and protein in salivary duct carcinomas of parotid gland as revealed by fluorescence in-situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry.

TL;DR: In immunohistochemistry, over-expression of HER-2/neu protein was identified as distinct membrane staining in most carcinoma cells in all salivary duct carcinoma cases, while only four cases revealed an amplification of Her-2 /neu gene by means of FISH analysis.

TL;DR: Numbers were small, correlating the clinico-pathologic features of the 4 ETV6-X fusion tumors and 5 MASC cases with atypical fusion transcripts raises the possibility of that they may behave more aggressively.
