Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of recurrence of gastrointestinal stromal tumour after surgery: an analysis of pooled population-based cohorts
Heikki Joensuu,Aki Vehtari,Jaakko Riihimäki,Toshirou Nishida,Sonja E. Steigen,Peter Brabec,Lukáš Plank,Bengt Nilsson,Claudia Cirilli,Chiara Braconi,Andrea Bordoni,Magnus K. Magnusson,Zdenek Linke,Jozef Sufliarsky,Massimo Federico,Jon G. Jonasson,Angelo Paolo Dei Tos,Piotr Rutkowski +17 more
TL;DR: Although the modified NIH classification is the best criteria to identify a single high-risk group for consideration of adjuvant therapy, the prognostic contour maps resulting from non-linear modelling are appropriate for estimation of individualised outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of HER-2/neu gene and protein in salivary duct carcinomas of parotid gland as revealed by fluorescence in-situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry.
Alena Skálová,Ivo Stárek,Tomas Vanecek,V. Kučerová,Lukáš Plank,Szépe P,S Di Palma,Ilmo Leivo +7 more
TL;DR: In immunohistochemistry, over-expression of HER-2/neu protein was identified as distinct membrane staining in most carcinoma cells in all salivary duct carcinoma cases, while only four cases revealed an amplification of Her-2 /neu gene by means of FISH analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
KIT and PDGFRA Mutations and the Risk of GI Stromal Tumor Recurrence
Heikki Joensuu,Piotr Rutkowski,Toshirou Nishida,Sonja E. Steigen,Peter Brabec,Lukáš Plank,Bengt Nilsson,Chiara Braconi,Andrea Bordoni,Magnus K. Magnusson,Jozef Sufliarsky,Massimo Federico,Jon G. Jonasson,Isabelle Hostein,Pierre Paul Bringuier,Jean-François Emile +15 more
TL;DR: GISTs with an identical KIT orPDGFRA mutation may have widely varying risks for recurrence, and most of the patients with PDGFRA mutations and those with KIT exon 11 duplication mutation or deletion of one codon have favorable RFS with surgery alone and are usually not candidates for adjuvant therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salivary Duct Carcinoma - A Highly Aggressive Salivary Gland Tumor with HER-2/neu Oncoprotein Overexpression
TL;DR: Overexpression, identified as strong or moderate membrane immunostaining, was observed in all but one case of SDC in most neoplastic cells and suggests that anti-HER2/neu therapy with Herceptin is beneficial for patients with aggressive salivary duct carcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia and other lymphoid infiltrates of the breast nipple: a retrospective clinicopathologic study of fifty-six patients.
Ludmila Boudova,Dmitry V. Kazakov,Radek Sima,Tomas Vanecek,Emina Torlakovic,Janez Lamovec,Heinz Kutzner,Szépe P,Lukáš Plank,Jiri Bouda,Ondrej Hes,Petr Mukensnabl,Michal Michal +12 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia is the most common lymphoproliferation of the breast nipple, rarely recognized clinically, and often overdiagnosed histologically as lymphoma.
