Journal ArticleDOI

Contributions of the S100A9 C-terminal tail to high-affinity Mn(II) chelation by the host-defense protein human calprotectin.

TL;DR: Damo et al. as discussed by the authors showed that the C-terminal tail is essential for high-affinity Mn(II)-coordination by calprotectin in solution, which is in agreement with a Mn-II-calprotectin crystal structure reported recently.
Journal ArticleDOI

Calcium ions tune the zinc-sequestering properties and antimicrobial activity of human S100A12

TL;DR: Human S100A12 exhibits Ca(II)-dependent Zn(ii)-binding properties and antifungal activity and it is unclear whether this property is related to Zn-binding properties or not.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling biological copper clusters: synthesis of a tricopper complex, and its chloride- and sulfide-bridged congeners.

TL;DR: The synthesis and characterization of a family of tricopper clusters housed within a tris(β-diketimine) cyclophane ligand (H3L) that bear structural similarities to biological copper clusters are reported.

Crispr mediated recording of cellular events

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of determining a cellular event of interest in a cell comprising of a CRISPR-Cas system is presented. Butt et al. proposed to detect the modification of the selected DNA sequence based on detection of the modified DNA sequence.
