Willingness to pay for reduced visual disamenities from offshore wind farms in denmark
Jacob Ladenburg,Alex Dubgaard +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the economic valuation method Choice Experiments to assess the willingness to pay for reducing the visual disamenities from future offshore wind farms using a fixed effect logit model and found that the average willingness of consumers to pay amounts were 46, 96 and 122 Euros/household/year for having the wind farms located at 12, 18 and 50 km from the coast as opposed to 8 km.
Journal ArticleDOI
Making Benefit Transfers Work: Deriving and Testing Principles for Value Transfers for Similar and Dissimilar Sites Using a Case Study of the Non-Market Benefits of Water Quality Improvements Across Europe
Ian J. Bateman,Roy Brouwer,Silvia Ferrini,Silvia Ferrini,Marije Schaafsma,David N. Barton,Alex Dubgaard,Berit Hasler,Stephanie Hime,Inge Liekens,Ståle Navrud,L. De Nocker,R. Ščeponavičiūtė,D. Semėnienė +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors implement a controlled, multi-site experiment to develop and test guidance principles for benefits transfers, and provide guidance on the appropriate specification of transferable value functions arguing that these should be developed from theoretical rather than ad hoc statistical approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preferences of coastal zone user groups regarding the siting of offshore wind farms
Jacob Ladenburg,Alex Dubgaard +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the visual disamenities of offshore wind farms in the coastal zone and found that people who can see wind farms from their residence, anglers and recreational boaters, significantly perceive the visual impacts to be more negative compared to people who do not use the coastal area for those specific purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scenario realism and welfare estimates in choice experiments – A non-market valuation study on the European water framework directive
Mitesh Kataria,Ian J. Bateman,Tove Christensen,Alex Dubgaard,Berit Hasler,Stephanie Hime,Jacob Ladenburg,Gregor Levin,Louise Martinsen,C. Nissen +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that average welfare measures differ considerably according to whether respondents who disagree with the status quo levels and find proposed scenarios unlikely are included or not.
Journal ArticleDOI
A practical CBA-based screening procedure for identification of river basins where the costs of fulfilling the WFD requirements may be disproportionate – applied to the case of Denmark
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose to use a screening procedure based on a relatively conservative cost-benefit analysis (CBA) as a first step towards identifying areas where costs could be disproportionate.
