Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Spectrophotometric Determination of Phenolic Compounds Contained in Plant Samples

TL;DR: Standard Operating Procedures sequentially describe the steps of a particular methodology so that it can be reproduced by different analysts, which minimises variations in their implementation and improves the standardisation of the final product.

Photoprotective activity of medicinal plants from the caatinga used as anti-inflammatories

TL;DR: The study showed that native species to the Caatinga used by the local population to treat inflammatory disorders have good photoprotective potential and could be used for pharmaceutical preparations to this end.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gastroprotective effect of ethyl acetate extract from Avicennia schaueriana Stapf & Leechman and underlying mechanisms.

TL;DR: The present findings reveal that the extract from the leaves of A. schaueriana has gastroprotective effects, suggesting the involvement of nitric oxide and nonprotein sulfhydryl compounds, but not prostaglandin, and the use of this species in Brazilian folk medicine for the treatment of gastric disorders has a scientific basis.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Anticholinesterase Properties of Plants from the Northeast of Brazil Selected by an Ethnopharmacological Study for Disorders Relating to the Nervous System.

TL;DR: Of the extracts tested, Citrus limonum, Ricinus communis, and Senna occidentalis stand out as was the most promising in terms of anticholinesterase activity and may serve as a guide for the discovery and development of new substances for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
