Douglas,Hill Avs.,Teresa Lambe,Sarah C. Gilbert,Andrew J. Pollard +81 more
TL;DR: ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 has an acceptable safety profile and has been found to be efficacious against symptomatic COVID-19 in this interim analysis of ongoing clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recombinant Glycoprotein Vaccine for the Prevention of Genital HSV-2 Infection Two Randomized Controlled Trials
Lawrence Corey,Andria Langenberg,Rhoda Ashley,Rose E. Sekulovich,Allen Izu,John M. Douglas,H. Hunter Handsfield,Terri Warren,Lisa Marr,Stephen K. Tyring,Richard P. DiCarlo,Adaora A. Adimora,Peter A. Leone,Cornelia L. Dekker,Rae Lyn Burke,Wai Ping Leong,Stephen E. Straus,Stephen E. Straus +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the efficacy of a vaccine for prevention of genital HSV-2 infection in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter trial with 2393 individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of condoms on reducing the transmission of herpes simplex virus type 2 from men to women.
Anna Wald,Andria Langenberg,Katherine Link,Allen Izu,Rhoda Ashley,Terri Warren,Stephen K. Tyring,John M. Douglas,Lawrence Corey +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of data from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of an ineffective candidate HSV-2 vaccine suggests that identification of discordant couples can reduce transmission of HSv-2, especially for heterosexual couples in which the male partner has HSV -2 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunotherapy of Recurrent Genital Herpes with Recombinant Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 Glycoproteins D and B: Results of a Placebo-Controlled Vaccine Trial
Sharon E. Straus,Anna Wald,R. G. Kost,Robin McKenzie,Andria Langenberg,Patricia Hohman,J. Lekstrom,E. Cox,M. Nakamura,Rose E. Sekulovich,Allen Izu,Cornelia L. Dekker,Lawrence Corey +12 more
TL;DR: The monthly rate of recurrences was not significantly improved, but the duration and severity of the first study outbreak was reduced significantly by vaccination, and Glycoprotein-specific and neutralizing antibodies were boosted by vaccination for the duration of the study.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Relationship between Condom Use and Herpes Simplex Virus Acquisition
Anna Wald,Andria Langenberg,Elizabeth M Krantz,John M. Douglas,H. Hunter Handsfield,Richard P. DiCarlo,Adaora A. Adimora,Allen Izu,Rhoda Ashley Morrow,Lawrence Corey +9 more
TL;DR: The effect of condom use on HSV acquisition in this prospectively followed cohort of men and women was analyzed and it was found that frequent condom use is associated with a lower rate of acquisition of HSV-2.
