Journal ArticleDOI
Convergent evolution in the supercoiling of prokaryotic flagellar filaments
Mark A. B. Kreutzberger,Ravi R. Sonani,Junfeng Liu,Sharanya Chatterjee,Fengbin Wang,Amanda L. Sebastian,Priyanka Biswas,Cheryl P. Ewing,Wei Zheng,Frédéric Poly,Gad Frankel,Ben F. Luisi,C. R. Calladine,Mart Krupovic,Birgit E. Scharf,Edward H. Egelman +15 more
TL;DR: In this article , the atomic structures of supercoiled bacterial and archaeal flagellar filaments have been investigated and it was shown that convergent evolution has yielded stable superhelical geometries that enable microbial locomotion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular stoichiometry of chemotaxis proteins in Sinorhizobium meliloti
Timofey D. Arapov,Rafael Castañeda Saldaña,Amanda L. Sebastian,W. Keith Ray,Richard F. Helm,Birgit E. Scharf +5 more
TL;DR: The stoichiometry of chemotaxis proteins in S. meliloti has very few similarities to the systems in E. coli and B. subtilis, and total amounts of proteins are significantly lower; these results mark significant differences in the composition of bacterialChemotaxis systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
XQR-30: The ultimate XSHOOTER quasar sample at the reionization epoch
Valentina D'Odorico,Eduardo Bañados,George D. Becker,M. Bischetti,Sarah E. I. Bosman,Guido Cupani,R. I. Davies,Emanuele Paolo Farina,A. Ferrara,Chiara Feruglio,Chiara Mazzucchelli,Emma V. Yang,M. V. Zanchettin +48 more
TL;DR: In this article , the spectral properties of 30 luminous quasars at z ≳ 6 were studied using the ESO Large Programme XSHOOTER legacy survey of the first Gyr of the universe.
