Journal ArticleDOI

Large Ly α opacity fluctuations and low CMB τ in models of late reionization with large islands of neutral hydrogen extending to z < 5.5

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a radiative transfer simulation of cosmic reionization driven by galaxies that reproduces this large scatter and the rapid evolution of the Ly-alpha opacity distribution at 5 ~ 6 Reionization is complete at z=53 in their model, and 50% of the volume of the Universe is ionized at z = 7.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long troughs in the Lyman-α forest below redshift 6 due to islands of neutral hydrogen

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used high-resolution cosmological radiative transfer simulations in large volumes to simulate a long absorption trough in the Ly$\alpha$ forest and found that the troughs are caused by islands of neutral hydrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reionization in Technicolor

TL;DR: The Technicolor Dawn simulations as mentioned in this paper are a suite of cosmological radiation hydrodynamic simulations of the first 1.2 billion years of Earth's history, by modeling a spatially inhomogeneous ultraviolet background.
Journal ArticleDOI

Probing the metallicity and ionization state of the circumgalactic medium at z~6 and beyond with OI absorption

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used high-resolution hydrodynamic simulations to interpret the incidence rate of O´I absorbers at z ∼ 6 as observed by Becker et al.
