Journal ArticleDOI

BECN1 and BRCA1 Deficiency Sensitizes Ovarian Cancer to Platinum Therapy and Confers Better Prognosis.

TL;DR: In this paper, the expression of three tumor suppressor genes (BRCA1, BECN1, and TP53) was investigated in ovarian cancer patients and compared to EOC, tumors expressing low mRNA expression of these two genes showed higher sensitivity to platinum-based therapies and were associated with a better prognosis of ovarian cancerbearing patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Butyrate Inhibits Colorectal Cancer Cell Proliferation through Autophagy Degradation of β-Catenin Regardless of APC and β-Catenin Mutational Status

TL;DR: The molecular mechanism underlying the anti-proliferative activity of butyrate, a microbiota-derived short chain fatty acid, in two CRC cell lines, namely HCT116 and SW620, which bear a mutation in β-Catenin and APC, respectively is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resveratrol Contrasts IL-6 Pro-Growth Effects and Promotes Autophagy-Mediated Cancer Cell Dormancy in 3D Ovarian Cancer: Role of miR-1305 and of Its Target ARH-I

TL;DR: The possibility of maintaining a permanent cell dormancy in ovarian cancer by the chronic administration of RV should be considered as a therapeutic option to prevent the “awakening” of cancer cells in response to a permissive microenvironment, thus limiting the risk of tumor relapse and metastasis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epigenetic control of autophagy in women’s tumors: role of non-coding RNAs

TL;DR: The role played by non-coding RNAs-mediated regulation of autophagy in development and progression of cancers in women and how epigenetics can impactAutophagy might open novel therapeutic strategies in the fight against cancers inWomen.
