A multicenter study of septic shock due to candidemia: outcomes and predictors of mortality

TL;DR: Investigating the determinants of outcome in critically ill patients with septic shock due to candidemia found inadequate source control, inadequate antifungal therapy, and 1-point increments in the APACHE II score as independent variables associated with a higher 30-day mortality rate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk Factors for Fluconazole-Resistant Candidemia

TL;DR: It is concluded that prior fluconazole treatment is an independent risk factor only for candidemia caused by microbiologically confirmed flu Conazole resistant species, and may be of value for selecting empirical antifungal therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact on hospital mortality of catheter removal and adequate antifungal therapy in Candida spp. bloodstream infections

TL;DR: Delays in catheter withdrawal and in administration of adequate antifungal therapy was associated with increased mortality in candidaemic patients and catheter management did not influence the prognosis of secondary non-catheter-related candidaemia.
