Journal ArticleDOI

Soft-x-ray polarimeter with multilayer optics: complete analysis of the polarization state of light.

TL;DR: With these newly developed optical elements the complete polarization analysis of soft-x-ray synchrotron radiation can be extended to the water-window range from 300 to 600 eV.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel undulator-based PGM beamline for circularly polarised synchrotron radiation at BESSY II

TL;DR: In this article, the design of a beamline for circularly polarised radiation from an elliptical double undulator to be built at BESSY II has been presented, which can achieve high energy resolution from 6000 to 13 000 at a flux between about 10 10 and 10 12 photon/s, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Faraday rotation spectra at shallow core levels : 3p edges of Fe, Co, and Ni

TL;DR: In this paper, the magneto-optical (MO) Faraday spectra measured at the 3(p) edges of Fe, Co, and Ni were used to determine the final state of the transmitted radiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elliptically polarizing insertion devices at BESSY II

TL;DR: In this paper, two APPLE II type twin undulators are installed at BESSY II and they can either be operated in a chicane mode providing variable polarization at high switching rates or in a combined mode using a modulator for phase adaption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Observation of the x-ray magneto-optical Voigt effect.

TL;DR: On the basis of ab initio calculations it is shown that the x-ray Voigt effect follows sensitively the amount of spin polarization of the 2p core states, which provides a unique measure of the spin of the core states.
