Journal ArticleDOI
Compartmentation of the Tryptophan‐Synthase‐Proteolyzing System in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
TL;DR: The proteinases of a freshly prepared vacuole fraction from yeast spheroplasts are unable to inactivate externally added tryptophan synthase unless the organelles are disrupted by sonication or osmotic shock.
Journal ArticleDOI
Participation of the tryptophan synthase inactivating system from yeast in the activation of chitin synthase.
Andrej Hasilik,Helmut Holzer +1 more
TL;DR: The results take it to mean that the proteolytic inactivation of tryptophan synthase and theroteolytic activation of chitin synthase are catalyzed and regulated by the same protease/inhibitor system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies on a tryptophan synthase inactivating system from yeast.
Helmut Holzer,Tsunehiko Katsunuma,Erich G. Schött,A. Ross Ferguson,Andrej Hasilik,Heinrich Betz +5 more
TL;DR: Evidence is presented which strongly suggests that the mechanism of inactivation is proteolytic, and a macromolecular inhibitor of the inactivating enzymes, which prevents inactivation of tryptophan synthase, has been purified about 30-fold from yeast.
