Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of evapotranspiration on vertical flow subsurface constructed wetland performance
TL;DR: In this article, an example of the importance of evapotranspiration in constructed wetlands, with vertical subsurface flow, comparing different methods of treatment efficiency calculations was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen removal from wastewater in vertical flow constructed wetlands containing LWA/gravel layers and reed vegetation
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of light weight aggregates made of fly ash from sewage sludge thermal treatment (FASSTT LWA) on the nitrogen removal efficiency from artificial wastewater in constructed wetlands (CW) with vertical flow reed bed was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effect of Biochar Addition on the Biogas Production Kinetics from the Anaerobic Digestion of Brewers’ Spent Grain
TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of increasing biogas yield and rate from BSG digestion by adding biochar (BC) was tested for 21 days under mesophilic conditions in n = 3 trials, and no significant differences could be detected between all the assays amended with BC and the variant 0% BC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen removal from landfill leachate in constructed wetlands with reed and willow: Redox potential in the root zone
TL;DR: Final levels of total-nitrogen, nitrate and chemical oxygen demand were considerably lower in the reed and willow tank than in the unplanted tank, and plants had a significant influence on redox potential relative to the plant-less system.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of plants on nitrogen removal from landfill leachate in discontinuous batch shallow constructed wetland with recirculating subsurface horizontal flow
TL;DR: In this article, three discontinuous batch shallow constructed wetland systems with recirculating subsurface horizontal flow with reed, willow, and without plants were used to assess the removal of nitrogen from landfill leachate in relation to hydraulic retention time and climatic conditions.
