Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of new variants of human BMP15 gene in a large cohort of women with premature ovarian failure.
Elisa Di Pasquale,Raffaella Rossetti,Anna Marozzi,Beatrice Bodega,S. Borgato,Luciano Cavallo,Silvia Einaudi,Giorgio Radetti,Gianni Russo,Michele Sacco,Malgorzata Wasniewska,Trevor Cole,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Lawrence M. Nelson,Luca Persani +14 more
TL;DR: The significant association of heterozygous B MP15 gene variants with the POF phenotype in humans is described, consistent with the critical role played by BMP15 in human folliculogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of intermediate and uninterrupted FMR1 CGG expansions in premature ovarian failure manifestation
Beatrice Bodega,Silvia Bione,Leda Dalprà,Daniela Toniolo,F. Ornaghi,Walter Vegetti,Enrico Ginelli,Anna Marozzi +7 more
TL;DR: The results obtained strengthen the correlation between FMR1 expansion and POF and suggest that the manifestation of the ovarian dysfunction could be influenced both by the pattern of interruption of the CGG repeat and by X-inactivation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between idiopathic premature ovarian failure and fragile X premutation
Anna Marozzi,Walter Vegetti,E. Manfredini,Maria Grazia Tibiletti,G. Testa,Pier Giorgio Crosignani,Enrico Ginelli,Raffaella Meneveri,Leda Dalprà +8 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest a possible involvement of premutated alleles in ovarian failure, and indicate the utility of POF families screening for FRAXA premutation in order to prevent the transmission of mental retardation syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
BMP15 mutations associated with primary ovarian insufficiency cause a defective production of bioactive protein.
Raffaella Rossetti,Elisa Di Pasquale,Anna Marozzi,Silvia Bione,Daniela Toniolo,Paola Grammatico,Lawrence M. Nelson,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Luca Persani +8 more
TL;DR: Heterozygous BMP15 mutations associated with the early onset of overt POI lead to defective secretion of bioactive dimers, which supports the concept that an adequate amount of B MP15 secreted in the follicular fluid is critical for female fertility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutation analysis of the inhibin alpha gene in a cohort of Italian women affected by ovarian failure
Anna Marozzi,C Porta,Walter Vegetti,P. G. Crosignani,Maria Grazia Tibiletti,Leda Dalprà,Enrico Ginelli +6 more
TL;DR: The analysis of pedigrees showing the inheritance of the 769G-->A mutation and POF strengthens the concept of the disease heterogeneity, since the POF phenotype was not always associated with the mutation.
