Intra-hour forecasting with a total sky imager at the UC San Diego solar energy testbed

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for intra-hour, sub-kilometer cloud forecasting and irradiance nowcasting using a ground-based sky imager at the University of California, San Diego is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-resolution urban thermal sharpener (HUTS)

TL;DR: In this paper, a high resolution urban thermal sharpener (HUTS) was developed that increases the resolution NASA, Marshall Space Flight Center, AL 35812, USA of thermal infrared (TIR) data to that of visible and near infrared (VNIR), by fitting the relationship between radiometric surface temperature, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and surface albedo (α).
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of solar photovoltaic panels on roof heat transfer

TL;DR: Dominguez et al. as discussed by the authors quantified the indirect benefits of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems for building insulation through measurements and modeling, and showed that the reduced daily variability in rooftop surface temperature under the PV array reduces thermal stresses on the roof and leads to energy savings and/or human comfort benefits especially for rooftop PV on older warehouse buildings.
