Journal ArticleDOI
Natural 15N abundance in fruit bodies of ectomycorrhizal fungi from boreal forests
Andrew F. S. Taylor,Lars Högbom,Mona N. Högberg,Anthony J. E. Lyon,Torgny Näsholm,Peter Högberg +5 more
TL;DR: The higher δ15 N and %N values of the caps than of the stipes probably reflect a higher portion of proteins and amino acids in the caps, which can be a function of the N species used, the depth of soil at which the mycelium occurs, and metabolic fractionations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The breakdown of paraquat and diquat by soil fungi
TL;DR: Tolerance to these herbicides appears to be the result of an ability to degrade them, with Aspergillus niger liberated 14CO2 from both herbicides and Penicillium frequentans only from paraquat.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of bipyridyl herbicides on the loss of nutrients from fungi
TL;DR: Paraquat and diquat cause rapid loss of potassium and phosphate from Aspergillus niger, Penicillium frequentans, Mucor hiemalis and Zygorrhynchus heterogamus and Paraquat enhances the level of malondialdehyde, a breakdown product of membrane fatty acids, in Zygor rhynchUS and Mucors.
