Journal ArticleDOI

Electron transfer at the mineral/water interface: Selenium reduction by ferrous iron sorbed on clay

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the long-term kinetics of selenite ( Se(IV)O 3 - ) sorption to montmorillonite in the presence of Fe2+ under anoxic conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Iron(II,III) hydroxycarbonate green rust formation and stabilization from lepidocrocite bioreduction.

TL;DR: Bioreduction of the well-crystallized ferric oxyhydroxide gamma-FeOOH lepidocrocite investigated in batch cultures confirms that GR is metastable with respect to magnetite in the presence of gamma- FeOOH.
Journal ArticleDOI

Redox potential measurements and Mössbauer spectrometry of FeII adsorbed onto FeIII (oxyhydr)oxides

TL;DR: In this paper, the redox properties of FeII adsorbed onto a series of FeIII (oxyhydr)oxides (goethite, lepidocrocite, nano-sized ferric oxide hydrate (nano-FOH), and hydrous ferric oxides (HFO)) have been investigated by rest potential measurements at a platinum electrode, as a function of pH (−log 10[H+]) and surface coverage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coprecipitation of Fe(II–III) hydroxycarbonate green rust stabilised by phosphate adsorption

TL;DR: In this article, a green rust one, GR1(CO32−), was synthesised by coprecipitation in the presence of phosphate by dissolving a Na2HPO4 salt, and the resulting product is a mixture of Fe(II-III) hydroxysalt, magnetite Fe3O4 and ferrous hydroxide Fe(OH)2.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of Fe(II-III) hydroxysulphate green rust by coprecipitation

TL;DR: In this paper, a coprecipitation that consists of mixing solutions of iron(II) and iron(III) salts with NaOH solution in adequate proportions was used to obtain the FeII4FeIII2(OH)12]2+·[SO2−4 ·m H2O]2−.
