Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of Air Exposure on Vasotocinergic and Isotocinergic Systems in Gilthead Sea Bream (Sparus aurata): New Insights on Fish Stress Response.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate, both at transcriptional and circulating levels of several hormones, the existence of a complex activation of different endocrine pathways in S. aurata related to the stress pathways, and highlights an important role of vasotoc inergic and isotocinergic pathways in liver metabolic organization after acute stress events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Different stressors induce differential responses of the CRH-stress system in the gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata)

TL;DR: The results suggest that different stressors are handled through different stress pathways in S. aurata, and osmoregulatory and metabolic parameters in plasma corroborated a clear reorganization depending on the stress source/period.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unraveling vasotocinergic, isotocinergic and stress pathways after food deprivation and high stocking density in the gilthead sea bream.

TL;DR: Changes in avt and it gene expression, as well as in their specific receptors at central and peripheral levels, showed that vasotoc inergic and isotocinergic pathways are involved in physiological changes induced by FD or HSD, suggesting that different stressors are handled through different stress pathways in S. aurata.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of dietary tryptophan and chronic stress in gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) juveniles fed corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) based diets

TL;DR: Dietary Trp supplementation did not counteract the negative effect of stocking density on growth performance but seemed to mitigate stress response of gilthead seabream juveniles kept at high stocking density.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of starvation and re-feeding on vasotocinergic and isotocinergic pathways in immature gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata)

TL;DR: The results reveal the important role of the AVT/IT endocrine systems in the orchestration of fish physiology during starvation and re-feeding and indicate their involvement in both central and peripheral organs.
