Journal ArticleDOI
Chromatin remodeling enzyme Snf2h regulates embryonic lens differentiation and denucleation.
Shuying He,Saima Limi,Rebecca McGreal,Qing Xie,Lisa A. Brennan,Wanda Lee Kantorow,Juraj Kokavec,Romit Majumdar,Harry Hou,Winfried Edelmann,Wei Liu,Ruth Ashery-Padan,Jiri Zavadil,Marc Kantorow,Arthur I. Skoultchi,Tomas Stopka,Ales Cvekl +16 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that Snf2h is essential for the establishment of lens vesicle polarity, partitioning of prospective lens epithelial and fiber cell compartments, lens Fiber cell differentiation, and lens fiber cell nuclear degradation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulated expression of genes inserted at the human chromosomal beta-globin locus by homologous recombination
TL;DR: The results show that genes introduced at the beta-globin locus acquire some of the regulatory properties of globin genes during erythroid differentiation.
Journal Article
Mouse Sin3A interacts with and can functionally substitute for the amino-terminal repression domain of the Myc antagonist Mxi1
Govinda Rao,Leila Alland,Peter Guida,Nicole Schreiber-Agus,Ken Chen,Lynda Chin,Julie M. Rochelle,Michael F. Seldin,Arthur I. Skoultchi,Ronald A. DePinho +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the mSin3A protein can associate with the strong repressive isoform of Mxi1 (Mxi1-SR) and that this association is necessary for the anti-Myc activity of MSin3-SR.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Resolution Methylome Analysis Reveals Widespread Functional Hypomethylation during Adult Human Erythropoiesis
Yiting Yu,Yongkai Mo,David L. Ebenezer,Sanchari Bhattacharyya,Hui Liu,Sriram Sundaravel,Orsolya Giricz,Sandeep N. Wontakal,Jessy Cartier,Bennett Caces,Andrew S. Artz,Sangeeta Nischal,Tushar D. Bhagat,Kathleen Bathon,Shahina Maqbool,Oleg Gligich,Masako Suzuki,Ulrich Steidl,Lucy A. Godley,Arthur I. Skoultchi,John M. Greally,Amittha Wickrema,Amit Verma +22 more
TL;DR: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of methylomic and transcriptomic changes during erythroid differentiation and demonstrates that human terminal erythropoiesis is surprisingly associated with hypomethylation of the genome.
Journal Article
Reversal of tumorigenicity and the block to differentiation in erythroleukemia cells by GATA-1
Kevin S. Choe,Farshid Radparvar,Igor Matushansky,Natasha Rekhtman,Xing Han,Arthur I. Skoultchi +5 more
TL;DR: It is reported here that the block to differentiation in MEL cells can be overcome by providing the cells with additional GATA-1, and it is shown that the gene for the cell cycle inhibitor p21 is transcriptionally regulated by GATA2 and is a likely downstream effector of GATA1 that helps to promote differentiation and proliferation arrest.
