A glucose meter interface for point-of-care gene circuit-based diagnostics.
Evan Amalfitano,Margot Karlikow,Masoud Norouzi,Katariina Jaenes,Seray Cicek,Fahim Masum,Peivand Sadat Mousavi,Yuxiu Guo,Laura Tang,Andrew M. Sydor,Duo Ma,Joel Pearson,Joel Pearson,Daniel Trcka,Mathieu Pinette,Aruna Ambagala,Shawn Babiuk,Bradley S Pickering,Bradley S Pickering,Bradley S Pickering,Jeff Wrana,Jeff Wrana,Rod Bremner,Rod Bremner,Tony Mazzulli,Tony Mazzulli,David Sinton,John H. Brumell,Alexander A. Green,Alexander A. Green,Keith Pardee +30 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors leverage the glucose meter, one of the most widely available point-of-care sensing devices, to serve as a universal reader for these decentralized diagnostics, and demonstrate the detection of a small-molecule analyte; sample-to-result diagnostics for typhoid, paratyphoid A/B; and show the potential for pandemic response with nucleic acid sensors for SARS-CoV-2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Field‐Deployable Reverse Transcription‐Insulated Isothermal PCR (RT‐iiPCR) Assay for Rapid and Sensitive Detection of Foot‐and‐Mouth Disease Virus
Aruna Ambagala,Mathew Fisher,M. Goolia,C. Nfon,Tara Furukawa-Stoffer,R. Ortega Polo,Oliver Lung +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a reverse transcription-insulated isothermal PCR (RT-iiPCR) was used to detect FMDV RNA in vesicular fluid samples without nucleic acid extraction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insulated Isothermal Reverse Transcriptase PCR (iiRT-PCR) for Rapid and Sensitive Detection of Classical Swine Fever Virus.
TL;DR: In this paper, a probe-based insulated isothermal reverse transcriptase PCR (iiRT-PCR) was used for rapid detection of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) on a compact, user-friendly device that does not need data interpretation by the user.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neonatal pigs are susceptible to experimental Zika virus infection
Joseph Darbellay,Joseph Darbellay,Ken Lai,Shawn Babiuk,Yohannes Berhane,Aruna Ambagala,Colette Wheler,Donald Wilson,Stewart Walker,Andrew A. Potter,Matthew W. Gilmour,David Safronetz,Volker Gerdts,Volker Gerdts,Uladzimir Karniychuk,Uladzimir Karniychuk +15 more
TL;DR: This research highlights the need to understand more fully the role of immune checkpoints in the development of fungal infection and how these checkpoints can be influenced by antibiotics and other treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiplex PCR and Microarray for Detection of Swine Respiratory Pathogens.
Oliver Lung,S Ohene-Adjei,Cody Buchanan,Tomy Joseph,R King,A. Erickson,Susan E. Detmer,Aruna Ambagala +7 more
TL;DR: A novel prototype automated microarray that integrates and automates all steps of post‐PCR microarray processing for the simultaneous detection and typing of eight bacteria and viruses commonly associated with PRDC is described along with associated multiplex reverse transcriptase PCR.
