Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid, Low-Cost Detection of Zika Virus Using Programmable Biomolecular Components
Keith Pardee,Alexander A. Green,Melissa K. Takahashi,Dana Braff,Dana Braff,Dana Braff,Guillaume Lambert,Guillaume Lambert,Jeong Wook Lee,Tom Ferrante,Duo Ma,Nina M. Donghia,Melina Fan,Nichole M. Daringer,Irene Bosch,Dawn M. Dudley,David H. O’Connor,Lee Gehrke,Lee Gehrke,James J. Collins +19 more
TL;DR: A pipeline for the rapid design, assembly, and validation of cell-free, paper-based sensors for the detection of the Zika virus RNA genome is reported, which detect clinically relevant concentrations of Zika virus sequences and demonstrate specificity against closely related Dengue virus sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex cellular logic computation using ribocomputing devices
Alexander A. Green,Jongmin Kim,Jongmin Kim,Duo Ma,Pamela A. Silver,Pamela A. Silver,James J. Collins,James J. Collins,James J. Collins,Peng Yin,Peng Yin +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ribocomputing devices in Escherichia coli can evaluate two-input logic with a dynamic range up to 900-fold and scale them to four-input AND, six-input OR, and a complex 12-input expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-Cost Detection of Norovirus Using Paper-Based Cell-Free Systems And Synbody-Based Viral Enrichment
TL;DR: A low-cost colorimetric assay that detects norovirus from clinical samples by combining paper-based cell-free transcription–translation systems, isothermal amplification and virus enrichment by synbodies is demonstrated and provides a versatile diagnostic assay that can be applied to the concentration, amplification and detection of a broad range of infectious agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Covalent Chemical Functionalization of Unmodified Two-Dimensional Molybdenum Disulfide
Ximo S. Chu,Ahmed Yousaf,Duo O. Li,Anli A. Tang,Abhishek Debnath,Duo Ma,Alexander A. Green,Elton J. G. Santos,Qing Hua Wang +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the direct covalent functionalization of the basal planes of unmodified semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) using aryl diazonium salts without any pretreatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multiplexed, electrochemical interface for gene-circuit-based sensors.
Peivand Sadat Mousavi,Sarah J. Smith,Sarah J. Smith,Jenise B. Chen,Margot Karlikow,Aidan Tinafar,Clare Robinson,Wenhan Liu,Duo Ma,Alexander A. Green,Shana O. Kelley,Keith Pardee +11 more
TL;DR: An electrochemical interface that permits expanded multiplexed reporting for cell-free gene-circuit-based sensors and introduces the possibility of electronic-based logic, memory and response elements to synthetic biology.
