The Role of the Latest Clothing CAD/CAM System Applications in the Educational Process

The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of learning by improving student learning outcomes and competence in grading women’s fashion patterns using the CAD Pattern System learning media. The design of this study is Classroom Action Research. This research was conducted in two cycles, in each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects in this study were students of grade XI Fashion 1 State Vocational School 5 Malang totaling 34 students. Data collection by tests, and performance tests (performance). The results showed an improvement in student learning outcomes and competence in grading women’s fashion patterns. From the aspect of knowledge, an increase in the average score from cycle I to cycle II was 17.0. From the aspect of skills/competence, an increase in average score from cycle I to cycle II was 1.03. This study concludes that the use of the CAD Pattern System learning media is very effective, indicated by (1) improvement in student learning outcomes in making women’s fashion patterns grading, (2) improvement of student learning competence in making women's fashion patterns grading, (3) CAD Pattern System is expected to be used as a learning medium in the subjects of Industrial Clothing Making, in pattern grading competencies fashion, but still pay attention to school conditions and the characteristics of students. .

Grading Women's Clothing Patterns with the CAD Pattern System to Improve Student Learning Outcomes and Competencies

In this study, the aim is to evaluate the compatibility between the virtual try-on result with the actual try-on result by comparing the try-ons of a garment produced from knitwear fabric in actual and virtual environments. The patterns of the garment to be produced in accordance with this aim, were prepared by the researchers and after sewing prototype product with knitwear, the try-on was made on the real mannequin who has been taken measure body sizes on. Afterwards, the prepared patterns were transferred to the computer environment by digitizing in the Gerber Accumark program and the virtual trying-on was performed on the mannequin which created in V-Stitcher which is a 3-dimensional virtual simulation program. For the accordance between the virtual try-on and the actual try-on, a virtual mannequin has been created with the standards of the person who used for the body measurements. In addition, the knitwear fabric used in prototype production has been defined in the system by performing tests such as bending, stretch and shear parameters for carring the same characteristics with actual try-on. The compatibility of the virtual rehearsal and the actual rehearsal was assessed based on expert opinions. As a result of the research, it was determined that the results of the virtual rehearsals of the clothes produced from the knitwear are compatible with the actual rehearsal results.

Comparison of try-on over actual and virtual mannequins for knitwear garments

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the perceived thermal comfort experienced by active Muslim women (AMW) wearing hijabs determined by their experience of comfort sensation while doing sports activities or regular exercises. This study also examines whether the casual hijabs which are widely used among AMW are able to supply the appropriate comfort for active purposes.,This study used the quantitative method using survey questionnaires to collect 100 primary data obtained from AMW respondents who are university students located around the Klang Valley region in Malaysia.,Based on the overall results, this study suggests that the common hijabs that are used for casual applications do not offer sufficient comfort to Muslim women while performing sports activities or regular exercises.,The outcome of this study will help to gain a better understanding on hijab preferences and comfort experienced from the viewpoint of regular hijab users. The information will assist industries to consider the selection of the right materials when developing sportswear hijabs to provide better comfort for more AMW in the near future. The method used in this study is useful to gain information on consumer’s profile and value-added details about the discomfort aspects of hijab which are scarce in the existing literature on thermal comfort.,This study was conducted to explore the type of hijabs commonly worn by AMW while performing sports activities and to obtain their views on the perceived thermal comfort.

Thermal comfort perception of hijab usage among young Muslim women for sports activity

In the ready-made clothing industry, computer aided design (CAD) systems are most commonly used for basic pattern making, grading and marker making processes.  Even though there are various software in this area in the market, pattern making process is still performed manually in several ready-made clothing businesses. In this research, the amount of time required for the processes of clothing technical pattern making, modelling, grading and marker making via CAD systems has been compared to time required for the manual method, with the aim of determining the more efficient approach. To this end, time measurements for the steps of these processes, specified by 3 expert pattern designers and 3 CAD operators, were taken and compared. The comparison has been focused on the aspects of processes that made a difference in terms of time, the effect of these processes on total time and the identification of the factors that resulted in the time difference.  Upper-body clothing has been chosen as the focus of this study due to the involvement of several steps in the processes of basic pattern making and grading. The acquired data has shown that the process times required for CAD systems have been shorter than those for manual design in every step that have an important place in the pre-production preparation process.

Giyim uretiminde meydana gelen teknolojik gelismeler;  cesitli sektorlere yonelik ozellikleri olan giysilerin uretilebilmesine olanak vermistir. Boylece is giysisi kavrami ortaya cikmistir. Gerceklestirilen bu calismada; tarim sektorunde calisanlar icin; is verimliligini arttiran, calisani sektorden kaynaklanan risklere karsi koruyan, bunun yaninda calisanin vucut uzuvlarinin rahat hareket etmesini de saglayan giysiler gelistirmek amaclanmistir.Arastirmada, oncelikle, tarim sektorunde calisanlarin is giysilerinden beklentilerinin belirlenmesine yonelik bir anket calismasi yapilmistir. Elde edilen verilerden yola cikilarak, tarim isletmelerinde giyilebilecek, hem calisanin sagligini ve guvenligini koruyan hem de hareket kolayligi saglayan giysiler gelistirilmistir.Yeni gelistirilen bu giysilerin genel durus ve vucuda uyumunu degerlendirmek amaciyla, sekiz erkek ve sekiz kadin gonulluye bu giysiler giydirilmis ve olusturulan subjektif skala ile gonullulerin giysiler hakkindaki gorusleri elde edilmistir. Subjektif giyim denemesi sonuclari, unisex isciliginin tarim iscilerine yonelik tasarlanabilecegini gostermektedir. Ayrica model detaylarinin beden hareketinin rahatligini ve tulumlarin islevselligini etkiledigi belirlenmistir.

Determining the Expectations of Farm Workers From Work Wears and Developing Functional Work Wear Models

Sport is a necessary element for maintaining life in a healthier and more balanced way. There has been a rising trend of wearing sportswear in daily life besides sports. Developments in technology have raised expectations from sportswear. Individuals expect not only durability, design and being fashionable, but also demand performance and clothing comfort. This study aims to investigate university students’ awareness while buying sportswear. Professional sportsmen from Physical Education and Sports School students and Textile Engineering students having technical knowledge about clothes are included in this study. 100 students from each group were interviewed face to face. Results showed that Textile Engineering students pay more attention to technical characteristics due to their knowledge, however, aesthetic properties are revealed to be another important factor affecting buying decision. Buying decision of Physical Education and Sports School students is expected to be positively affected if they are given a seminar about raw material properties.

Research on sportswear buying behavior of university students

Gunumuzde; estetik gorunum, konfor ve fonksiyonellik spor giyiminin onemli ozelliklerini olusturmaktadir. Giyim konforunun saglanmasi icin spor giysiler, farkli ozellik ve tasarimlarda cesitli kumaslar kullanilarak uretilmektedir. Vucuda oturan giysilerin giysi kalibinin dogru olculerde hazirlanmasi, bol giysilere gore daha zordur. Giysinin vucuda uyumunun en iyi oldugu giysi kalibini belirleyebilmek icin bircok prototipin hazirlanmasi gerekebilmekte ve sureler uzamaktadir. Bu nedenle, 3 boyutlu acinim sistemleri, ozellikle spor giyim ureticileri icin bir cikis yolu saglamaktadir. Bu calismada oncelikle, bir sanal erkek manken olusturulmustur. Ardindan, bu sanal model uzerinde Optitex 3 Boyutlu Acinim Sistemi kullanilarak boluntulu bir sweatshirt modeli tasarlanmistir. Bu sistem ile sanal manken uzerinde model tasarlandiginda, ayni anda giysi kaliplari da hazirlanmaktadir. Tasarim tamamlandiginda, 2 boyutlu giysi kaliplari acinim islemi ile otomatik olarak elde edilmistir. Daha sonra elde edilen bu 2 boyutlu kaliplar sanal dikis ile bir araya getirilerek manken uzerinde sanal giydirme islemi gerceklestirilmistir. Calisma kapsaminda tasarlanan modelin vucuda uyumu degerlendirilmistir.
