Caspian sea-level changes during the last millennium: historical and geological evidence from the south Caspian Sea

TL;DR: In this article, historical documents and geological records have been combined to reconstruct Caspian sea-level (CSL) changes during the last millennium, and the overall results indicate a highstand during the Little Ice Age, up to −21 m (and extra rises due to manmade river avulsion), with a −28 m low-stand during Medieval Climate Anomaly, while presently the CSL stands at −26.5 m.
Journal ArticleDOI

Depositional processes of ribbon carbonates in Middle Cambrian of Iran (Deh-Sufiyan Formation, Central Alborz)

TL;DR: A variety of ribbon carbonates of the Deh-Sufiyan Formation (Middle Cambrian) in Central Alborz Range of northern Iran are studied to provide facies characterization and paleoenvironmental interpretation as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Facies architecture, depositional environments, and sequence stratigraphy of the Middle Cambrian Fasham and Deh-Sufiyan Formations in the central Alborz, Iran

TL;DR: Based on their lithologic characteristics and stratal geometries, the Middle Cambrian Fasham and Deh-Sufiyan Formations in the Central Alborz, northern Iran, exhibit 39 lithofacies representing several supratidal to deep subtidal facies belts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rock typing using geological and petrophysical data in the Asmari reservoir, Aghajari Oilfield, SW Iran

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used petrophysical and geological data, by means of the neural network clustering technique, to identify rock types in the Oligo-Miocene Asmari Formation, which extends over the entire Zagros foreland basin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lithostratigraphic revision of the middle Cambrian (Series 3) and upper Cambrian (Furongian) in northern and central Iran

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a revision of the upper Lower Cambrian (Series 2-Series 3 boundary interval) through lowermost Ordovician lithostratigraphy of northern and central Iran.
