Robert M. Silver,Mark B. Landon,Dwight J. Rouse,Kenneth J. Leveno,Catherine Y. Spong,Elizabeth Thom,Atef H. Moawad,Steve N. Caritis,Margaret Harper,Ronald J. Wapner,Yoram Sorokin,Menachem Miodovnik,Marshall W. Carpenter,Alan M. Peaceman,Mary Jo O'Sullivan,Baha M. Sibai,Oded Langer,John M. Thorp,Susan M. Ramin,Brian M. Mercer +19 more
TL;DR: The number of intended pregnancies should be considered during counseling regarding elective repeat cesarean operation versus a trial of labor and when debating the merits of elective primary cESarean delivery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metronidazole to prevent preterm delivery in pregnant women with asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis
J. Christopher Carey,Mark A. Klebanoff,John C. Hauth,Sharon L. Hillier,Elizabeth Thom,J.M. Ernest,R. Phillip Heine,Robert P. Nugent,Molly L. Fischer,Kenneth J. Leveno,Ronald J. Wapner,Michael W. Varner,Wayne Trout,Atef H. Moawad,Bahaeddine M Sibai,Menachem Miodovnik,Mitchell P. Dombrowski,Mary Jo O'Sullivan,J. Peter VanDorsten,Oded Langer,James M. Roberts +20 more
TL;DR: Treatment with metronidazole did not reduce the occurrence of preterm labor, intraamniotic or postpartum infections, neonatal sepsis, or admission of the infant to the neonatal intensive care unit.
Journal ArticleDOI
The preterm prediction study: the value of new vs standard risk factors in predicting early and all spontaneous preterm births. NICHD MFMU Network.
Robert L. Goldenberg,Jay D. Iams,Brian M. Mercer,Paul J. Meis,Atef H. Moawad,R L Copper,Anita Das,Elizabeth Thom,Francee Johnson,Donald McNellis,Menachem Miodovnik,J. P. Van Dorsten,S. N. Caritis,Gary R. Thurnau,S. F. Bottoms +14 more
TL;DR: Fetal fibronectin and a short cervix are stronger predictors of spontaneous preterm birth than traditional risk factors, and a pathway leading from Black race through bacterial vaginosis and fetal fibronsectin to spontaneous pre term birth is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
The preterm prediction study: Significance of vaginal infections☆☆☆
Paul J. Meis,Robert L. Goldenberg,Brian M. Mercer,Atef H. Moawad,Anita Das,Donald McNellis,Francee Johnson,Jay D. Iams,Elizabeth Thom,William W. Andrews +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the association of bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas vaginitis, and monilial infection with spontaneous preterm birth at <35 weeks 0 days was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a nomogram for prediction of vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.
William A. Grobman,Yinglei Lai,Mark B. Landon,Catherine Y. Spong,Kenneth J. Leveno,Dwight J. Rouse,Michael W. Varner,Atef H. Moawad,Steve N. Caritis,Margaret Harper,Ronald J. Wapner,Yoram Sorokin,Menachem Miodovnik,Marshall W. Carpenter,Mary Jo O'Sullivan,Baha M. Sibai,Oded Langer,John M. Thorp,Susan M. Ramin,Brian M. Mercer +19 more
TL;DR: A predictive nomogram, which incorporates six variables easily ascertainable at the first prenatal visit, has been developed that allows the determination of a patient-specific chance for successful VBAC for those women who undertake trial of labor.
