Journal ArticleDOI
NC-AFM imaging of the TiO(2)(110)-(1 x 1) surface at low temperature.
TL;DR: A distinct type of image contrast mode is obtained which does not exhibit hydroxyl (OH) impurity defects that mostly appear in common nc-AFM images and is named as the 'hidden mode'.
Journal ArticleDOI
Understanding image contrast formation in TiO 2 with force spectroscopy
Ayhan Yurtsever,Delia Fernández-Torre,César González,Pavel Jelínek,Pablo Pou,Yoshiaki Sugimoto,Masayuki Abe,Rubén Pérez,Seizo Morita +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, site-specific force measurements on a rutile TiO(110) surface are combined with first-principles calculations in order to clarify the origin of the force contrast and to characterize the tip structures responsible for the two most common imaging modes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Pb Intercalation on the Structural and Electronic Properties of Epitaxial Graphene on SiC
Ayhan Yurtsever,Jo Onoda,Jo Onoda,Takushi Iimori,Kohei Niki,Kohei Niki,Toshio Miyamachi,Masayuki Abe,Seigi Mizuno,Satoru Tanaka,Fumio Komori,Yoshiaki Sugimoto,Yoshiaki Sugimoto +12 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the construction of a graphene-capped Pb/SiC system offers a possibility of tuning the graphene electronic properties and exploring intriguing physical properties such as superconductivity and spintronics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Force mapping on a partially H-covered Si(111)-(7 × 7) surface: Influence of tip and surface reactivity
Ayhan Yurtsever,Yoshiaki Sugimoto,Hide-Ki Tanaka,Masayuki Abe,Masayuki Abe,Seizo Morita,Martin Ondráček,Pablo Pou,Rubén Pérez,Pavel Jelínek +9 more
TL;DR: This work was supported by Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and the Funding Program for Next Generation World-Leading Researchers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of tip chemical reactivity on atom manipulation process in dynamic force microscopy.
Yoshiaki Sugimoto,Ayhan Yurtsever,Masayuki Abe,Masayuki Abe,Seizo Morita,Martin Ondráček,Pablo Pou,Rubén Pérez,Pavel Jelínek +8 more
TL;DR: This study measures the atom-hopping probabilities associated with different manipulation processes as a function of the tip-surface distance by means of constant height scans with chemically different types of tips to provide a better way to control the efficiency of the atomic manipulation process for chemisorption systems.
