Journal ArticleDOI

An afferent pathway for the selective release of vasopressin in response to carotid occlusion and haemorrhage in the cat

TL;DR: The release of neurohypophysial hormones in response to carotid occlusion and haemorrhage has been studied in anaesthetized cats and extracts were assayed for antidiuretic and milk‐ejecting activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood levels of oxytocin and vasopressin during suckling in the rabbit and the problem of their independent release

TL;DR: Oxytocin and vasopressin were assayed in samples of blood collected from conscious rabbits during suckling and the milk yields were determined from the weight gain of the litters.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hypothalamic neurosecretory pathways for the release of oxytocin and vasopressin in the cat

TL;DR: The neurones of the supraoptic nucleus and paraventricular nucleus were stimulated electrically in lactating cats under chloralose anaesthesia to monitor the release of oxytocin and vasopressin and both hormones were assayed in samples of blood collected during stimulation.
