Treatment technologies for petroleum refinery effluents: A review
TL;DR: A brief overview of different technologies used for the treatment of petroleum refinery effluents (PRE) can be found in this paper, where the authors present an overview of photocatalytic degradation and discusses published works.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance evaluation of biodiesel from used domestic waste oils: A review
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the performance of biodiesel fuels obtained from domestic waste oils (UDWOs), municipal solid waste (MSW), agricultural and industrial wastes, and demonstrated the suitability of applying these fuels as substitutes to mineral diesel in various industries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid of Fenton and sequencing batch reactor for petroleum refinery wastewater treatment
Basheer Hasan Diya’uddeen,Shima Rahim Pouran,A.R. Abdul Aziz,S.M. Nashwan,Wan Mohd Ashri Wan Daud,M.G. Shaaban +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a combined Fenton-sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was used for the treatment of high-strength petroleum refinery effluent (PRE) with [BOD 5 ]/[COD] 0 molar ratio on biodegradability enhancement.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the limitation of Fenton Oxidation Operational Parameters: A Review
TL;DR: The literature on the use of Fenton oxidation in wastewater treatment has established the method as one of the most effective and suitable methods for recalcitrant wastewater treatment as discussed by the authors. But despite the many advantages of the CFO process, there are issues related to operational parameters and the final treated wastewater, the most notable being pH modulation, the presence of the catalyst and the cost of the oxidant (H2O2). Furthermore, sludge generation constitutes an apparent drawback to the utilisation of this technology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fenton oxidative treatment of petroleum refinery wastewater: process optimization and sludge characterization
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the sludge properties of petroleum refinery effluent (PRE) and the accompanying sludge generated in treating PRE, and found that the resulting sludge has good settling and compaction properties and could be managed systematically with appropriate operating conditions.
