Journal ArticleDOI

Natural products from Cephalotaxus sp.: chemical diversity and synthetic aspects

TL;DR: A phytochemical update will be provided and the total synthesis of alkaloids and terpenoids will be discussed in detail, as Homoharringtonine is active against some orphan leukaemia and is nowadays approaching marketability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemistry and biology of non-tetramic γ-hydroxy-γ-lactams and γ-alkylidene-γ-lactams from natural sources

TL;DR: In this article, the structural originality of these compounds, their biological properties and the synthetic efforts developed to reach them are discussed, and 157 references are cited; the review aims to emphasize the structural uniqueness and biological properties of the compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical Communication between the Endophytic Fungus Paraconiothyrium Variabile and the Phytopathogen Fusarium oxysporum

TL;DR: Paraconiothyrium variabile, one of the specific endophytic fungi isolated from the host plant Cephalotaxus harringtonia, possesses the faculty to inhibit the growth of common phytopathogens, thus suggesting a role in its host protection.
Journal ArticleDOI

The fungal leaf endophyte Paraconiothyrium variabile specifically metabolizes the host-plant metabolome for its own benefit.

TL;DR: Out of more than a thousand molecules present in the crude extract of the plant leaf, a specific biotransformation of glycosylated flavonoids by the endophyte led to the production of the corresponding aglycone via deglycosylation, illustrating the chemical cooperation underlying the mutualistic relationship between the plant and the startophyte.
