Journal ArticleDOI
A large-scale genome-wide association study of Asian populations uncovers genetic factors influencing eight quantitative traits.
Yoon Shin Cho,Min Jin Go,Young-Jin Kim,Jee Yeon Heo,Ji Hee Oh,Hyo Jeong Ban,Dankyu Yoon,Mi-Hee Lee,Dong Joon Kim,Miey Park,Seung Hun Cha,Jun Woo Kim,Bok Ghee Han,Haesook Min,Younjhin Ahn,Man Suk Park,Hye Ree Han,Hye Yoon Jang,Eunyoung Cho,Jong Eun Lee,Nam H. Cho,Chol Shin,Taesung Park,Ji Wan Park,Jong-Keuk Lee,Lon R. Cardon,Geraldine M. Clarke,Mark I. McCarthy,Jong-Young Lee,Jong Koo Lee,Bermseok Oh,Hyung Lae Kim +31 more
TL;DR: A large-scale GWA analysis of well-characterized Korean population-based samples highlights previously unknown biological pathways and identifies two loci influencing bone mineral density at multiple sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-scale genome-wide association studies in East Asians identify new genetic loci influencing metabolic traits.
Young-Jin Kim,Min Jin Go,Cheng Hu,Chang Bum Hong,Yun Kyoung Kim,Ji-Young Lee,Joo Yeon Hwang,Ji Hee Oh,Dong Joon Kim,Nam Hee Kim,Soeui Kim,Eun Jung Hong,Ji Hyun Kim,Haesook Min,Yeonjung Kim,Rong Zhang,Weiping Jia,Yukinori Okada,Atsushi Takahashi,Michiaki Kubo,Toshihiro Tanaka,Naoyuki Kamatani,Koichi Matsuda,Taesung Park,Bermseok Oh,Kuchan Kimm,Daehee Kang,Chol Shin,Nam H. Cho,Nam H. Cho,Hyung Lae Kim,Bok Ghee Han,Jong-Young Lee,Yoon Shin Cho +33 more
TL;DR: Ten genome-wide significant signals newly associated with traits from an overall meta-analysis were identified, highlighting previously unknown biological pathways for metabolic traits investigated in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic variations in ATP2B1, CSK, ARSG and CSMD1 loci are related to blood pressure and/or hypertension in two Korean cohorts
Kyung-Won Hong,Go Mj,Hyun-Seok Jin,Ji-Eun Lim,Lee Jy,Han Bg,Sue Yun Hwang,Sang Hwa Lee,Hyon Park,Cho Ys,Bermseok Oh +10 more
TL;DR: Despite the difficulty of obtaining replication results for a complex trait genetic association between blood pressure and hypertension, the GWA study was able to identify consistent genetic factors in both the Korean cohorts in ATP2B1, CSK, ARSG and CSMD1 genes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recapitulation of two genomewide association studies on blood pressure and essential hypertension in the Korean population.
TL;DR: Four loci—ATP2B1 (ATPase, Ca++ transporting, plasma membrane 1), CSK (c-src tyrosine kinase), CYP17A1 (cytochrome P450 17A1) and PLEKHA7 (pleckstrin homology domain-containing family A member 7)—were associated with blood pressure and hypertension in the Korean population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of five novel genetic loci related to facial morphology by genome-wide association studies.
Seongwon Cha,Ji Eun Lim,Ah Yeon Park,Jun Hyeong Do,Si-Woo Lee,Chol Shin,Nam H. Cho,Ji One Kang,Jeong Min Nam,Jong-Sik Kim,Kwang Man Woo,Seung Hwan Lee,Jong Yeol Kim,Bermseok Oh +13 more
TL;DR: Five novel face morphology loci that were associated with facial frontal contour, nose shape, and eye shape were identified and four SNPs within these five face morphology-related loci showed discrepancies in allele frequencies among ethnic groups.
