Journal ArticleDOI

Proton-Activated "Off-On" Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Purely Organic Thioethers.

TL;DR: A type of thioether RTP molecules that shows RTP "turn-on" when volatile acid vapors such as HCl are in contact is reported, revealing that a charge-transfer character in the phosphorescence state is crucial.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Organic Host–Guest System Producing Room-Temperature Phosphorescence at the Parts-Per-Billion Level

TL;DR: In this article, a series of fluorescent naphthalimides, which did not originally show observable phosphorescence in solution, as aggregates, in polymer films, or in any other tested host material, including heavy-atom matrices at cryogenic temperatures, can now efficiently produce ultralong RTP (ϕ=0.17, τ=243 ms) in phthalimide hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Unexpected Chromophore-Solvent Reaction Leads to Bicomponent Aggregation-Induced Phosphorescence.

TL;DR: A working strategy is reported to construct a donor-sp3-acceptor type of luminogen which exhibits aggregation-induced emission (AIE) while the donors' counterpart structure exhibits non-emissive solid state, providing a new insight into the design of multi-component, solid-state RTP materials from organic molecular systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aggregation-Induced Emission with Long-Lived Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Methylene-Linked Organic Donor-Acceptor Structures

TL;DR: It is shown that ACQ could be effectively circumvented by constructing an aromatic system with a methylene-linker, where the system exhibits typical aggregation-induced emission (AIE) with long-lived room-temperature phosphorescence, since the tetrahedral structure in the solid state may significantly reduce strong intermolecular interactions contributing to ACQ.
Journal ArticleDOI

Highly efficient and persistent room temperature phosphorescence from cluster exciton enables ultrasensitive off-on VOC sensing

TL;DR: In this paper , a guest/host system (NL/DCB) with concurrently high RTP quantum yield of >20% and ultralong lifetime of >760 ms (duration ∼10 s) at ambient conditions is presented.
