Journal ArticleDOI
Non-destructive testing and evaluation of composite materials/structures: A state-of-the-art review
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the increasing demands in their applications to improve product efficiency, cost-effectiveness and the development of superior specific properties of composite materials/structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrafast synchrotron X-ray imaging studies of microstructure fragmentation in solidification under ultrasound
Bing Wang,Bing Wang,Dongyue Tan,Tung Lik Lee,Tung Lik Lee,Jia Chuan Khong,Jia Chuan Khong,Feng Wang,Dmitry G. Eskin,Thomas Connolley,Kamel Fezzaa,Jiawei Mi +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic interactions between the ultrasonic bubbles/acoustic flow and the solidifying phases in a Bi-8% Zn alloy were investigated using the ultrafast synchrotron X-ray imaging (up to 271,554 frame per second).
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-destructive testing and evaluation of composite materials/structures: A state-of-the-art review
TL;DR: The most established non-destructive testing techniques for detection and evaluation of defects/damage evolution in composites are reviewed, which include acoustic emission, ultrasonic testing, infrared thermography, terahertz testing, shearography, digital image correlation, as well as X-ray and neutron imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Health data driven on continuous blood pressure prediction based on gradient boosting decision tree algorithm
TL;DR: Applying the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) is the best method for predicting the blood pressure of multiple individuals: with the inclusion of data such as age, body fat, ratio, and height, algorithm accuracy improves, which in turn indicates that theclusion of new features aids prediction performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
A bistable morphing composite using viscoelastically generated prestress
Bing Wang,Kevin S. Fancey +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a morphing bistable structure has been produced, utilising viscoelastically generated prestress, which is achieved through pairs of strips orientated to give opposing cylindrical configurations within the sheet.
