TL;DR: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) detector is a general purpose solenoid detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC) in Beijing, China, that has collected large numbers of J/ψ, ψ′, Ds, D and τ events.
Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) detector is a general purpose solenoid detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC) in Beijing, China, that has collected large numbers of J/ψ, ψ′, Ds, D and τ events. In this paper, we describe the recent upgrade of the initial BES detector (BESI) to the improved BESII detector.

TL;DR: Comparison of next-to-leading-order QCD with the measured cross section at 630 GeV and the ratio of cross sections show satisfactory agreement in most of the E(T) range.
Abstract: The inclusive cross section for production of isolated photons has been measured in p (p) over bar collisions at roots = 630 GeV with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The photons span a transverse energy (E-T) range from 7-49 GeV and have pseudorapidity \eta\ s = 1800 GeV to form a ratio of the cross sections. Comparison of next-to-leading-order QCD with the measured cross section at 630 GeV and the ratio of cross sections show satisfactory agreement in most of the E-T range.

Abstract: The DO preshower detector consists of scintillator strips with embedded wavelength-shifting fibers, and a readout using Visible Light Photon Counters. The response to minimum ionizing particles has been tested with cosmic-ray muons. We report results on the gain calibration and light-yield distributions. The spatial resolution is investigated taking into account the light sharing between strips, the effects of multiple scattering and various systematic uncertainties. The detection efficiency and noise contamination are also investigated.

TL;DR: In this article, a sample of 3.95M {psi}(2S) decays registered in the BES detector are used to study final states containing pairs of octet and decuplet baryons.
Abstract: A sample of 3.95M {psi}(2S) decays registered in the BES detector are used to study final states containing pairs of octet and decuplet baryons. We report branching fractions for {psi}(2S){yields}p{bar p}, {Lambda}{bar {Lambda}}, {Sigma}{sup 0}{bar {Sigma}}{sup 0}, {Xi}{sup -}{bar {Xi}}{sup +}, {Delta}{sup ++}{bar {Delta}}{sup --}, {Sigma}{sup +}(1385){bar {Sigma}}{sup -}(1385), {Xi}{sup 0}(1530){bar {Xi}}{sup 0}(1530), and {Omega}{sup -}{bar {Omega}}{sup +}. These results are compared to expectations based on the SU(3)-flavor symmetry, factorization, and perturbative QCD.
