CD44 is of Functional Importance for Colorectal Cancer Stem Cells
Lei Du,Hongyi Wang,Leya He,Jingyu Zhang,Biyun Ni,Xiaohui Wang,Haijing Jin,Nathalie Cahuzac,Maryam Mehrpour,Youyong Lu,Quan Chen +10 more
TL;DR: CD44 is a robust marker and is of functional importance for colorectal CSC for cancer initiation and Knockdown of CD44, but not CD133, strongly prevented clonal formation and inhibited tumorigenicity in xenograft model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural Diterpenoid Compound Elevates Expression of Bim Protein, Which Interacts with Antiapoptotic Protein Bcl-2, Converting It to Proapoptotic Bax-like Molecule
Lixia Zhao,Lixia Zhao,Feng He,Hai-Yang Liu,Yushan Zhu,Yushan Zhu,Weili Tian,Weili Tian,Ping Gao,Ping Gao,Hong-Ping He,Wen Yue,Wen Yue,Xiaobo Lei,Xiaobo Lei,Biyun Ni,Biyun Ni,Xiaohui Wang,Xiaohui Wang,Haijing Jin,Haijing Jin,Xiao-Jiang Hao,Jialing Lin,Quan Chen,Quan Chen +24 more
TL;DR: A natural diterpenoid compound induced apoptosis in bax/bak double knock-out murine embryonic fibroblasts and substantially reduced the tumor growth from these cells implanted in mice, revealing a novel apoptotic mechanism that can be explored for developing therapeutics to treat cancers in which dysregulation of Bcl-2 family proteins is common.
Journal ArticleDOI
Threonine 32 (Thr32) of FoxO3 is critical for TGF-β-induced apoptosis via Bim in hepatocarcinoma cells.
Xiangxuan Zhao,Xiangxuan Zhao,Yong Liu,Lei Du,Leya He,Biyun Ni,Junbo Hu,Dahai Zhu,Quan Chen,Quan Chen +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that threonine 32 (Thr32) residue of FoxO3 is critical for TGF-β to induce apoptosis via Bim in hepatocarcinoma Hep3B cells, making it a potential therapeutic target for liver cancer treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenylarsine Oxide Induces Apoptosis in Bax- and Bak-Deficient Cells through Upregulation of Bim
TL;DR: PAO induced apoptosis in chemotherapy-resistant cancer cells, which suggests that PAO has the potential to serve as a chemotherapeutic agent for Bax- and Bak-deficient cancers.
