TL;DR: The lista roja de the herpetofauna of the Republica Argentina, presented by the AHA in 2000, was updated in 2013 with 256 species of lagartijas and anfisbenas as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serous cutaneous glands in Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis (Anura, Hylidae): secretory patterns during ontogenesis
TL;DR: None of the developmental stages investigated showed intermediate features between any of the three cutaneous products, which accumulate in the syncytial cytoplasms of the secretory units following different biosynthetic pathways, consistent with each gland type.
Journal ArticleDOI
Granular cutaneous glands in the frog Physalaemus biligonigerus (Anura, Leptodactylidae): comparison between ordinary serous and 'inguinal' glands.
TL;DR: The skin of the leptodactylid frog Physalaemus biligonigerus possesses peculiar clusters of large granular units, the 'inguinal' glands, which represent a gland population specialized in the storage of remarkable amounts of product used in chemical defence of the skin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serous cutaneous glands of Argentine Phyllomedusa Wagler 1830 (Anura Hylidae): secretory polymorphism and adaptive plasticity
TL;DR: An ultrastructural study has been carried out on the cutaneous serous glands in the Argentine hylids Phyllomedusa sauvagei Boulenger 1882 and P. hypochondrialis, finding that type I secretory units are of type Ia and Ib, and no intermediate forms were detected between these features.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secretory polymorphism and serous cutaneous gland heterogeneity in Bufo granulosus (Amphibia, Anura).
TL;DR: Findings point to the use of pharmacological treatment on the skin of anurans with different classes of serous glands to elicit differential secretory discharge.
