Antiangiogenic Therapy Targeting the Tyrosine Kinase Receptor for Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor Inhibits the Growth of Colon Cancer Liver Metastasis and Induces Tumor and Endothelial Cell Apoptosis
Raymond M. Shaheen,Darren W. Davis,Wenbiao Liu,Brian K. Zebrowski,Michael R. Wilson,Corazon D. Bucana,David J. McConkey,Gerald McMahon,Lee M. Ellis +8 more
TL;DR: VEGF receptor inhibitors increased endothelial cell apoptosis, suggesting that VEGF may serve as an endothelial survival factor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Markedly elevated levels of vascular endothelial growth factor in malignant ascites.
TL;DR: VEGF protein levels were markedly increased in malignant ascites compared with levels in nonmalignant cirrhotic ascites, suggesting that VEGF may play a role in malign ascites formation by increasing endothelial cell permeability.
Journal Article
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Levels and Induction of Permeability in Malignant Pleural Effusions
Brian K. Zebrowski,Seiji Yano,Wenbiao Liu,Raymond M. Shaheen,Daniel J. Hicklin,Joe B. Putnam,Lee M. Ellis +6 more
TL;DR: Vascular permeability, which was measured by using the Miles assay in nude mice, was increased proportionately with VEGF levels in the malignant pleural effusions, and this increase in permeability induced by injection of recombinant V EGF or themalignant effusions was reduced by pretreating the mice with a VegF receptor antibody.
Journal Article
Regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor expression in human colon cancer by insulin-like growth factor-I.
TL;DR: It is suggested that IGF-I regulates VEGF expression in human colon cancer cells by induction of transcription of the V EGF gene by way of inhibition of IGFBP-4 and IGFBPs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor expression in human colon cancer by interleukin-1β
TL;DR: It is suggested that interleukin-1β regulates VEGF expression in human colon cancer cells by increasing transcription of the V EGF gene.
