Journal Article
Acute Budd-Chiari syndrome treated by liver transplantation in a woman homozygous for factor V Leiden.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that liver transplantation resulted in correction of the serum coagulation abnormality; however, it is unlikely to have cured the disorder as platelet factor V would still be of the Leiden phenotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and Characterization of a Porcine Liver Scaffold.
Tahera Ansari,Aaron Southgate,Irene Obiri-Yeboa,Lauren Grace Jones,Karin Vicente Greco,Adedamola Olayanju,Lubinda Mbundi,Murali Somasundaram,Brian R. Davidson,Paul Sibbons +9 more
TL;DR: It is possible to create an acellular, clinically sized, liver scaffold with intact vasculature in less than 24 hours, whilst preserving the extra cellular matrix (ECM) to facilitate cell repopulation at a later stage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of zinc and zinc chelator on HT-29 colorectal cell line
Kurinchi Selvan Gurusamy,N Farooqui,Marilena Loizidou,S. Dijk,Jan-Willem Taanman,S. Whiting,Michael J. Farquharson,Barry Fuller,Brian R. Davidson +8 more
TL;DR: Zinc appears to be protective for short periods of exposure to TPEN but has no protective effect on prolonged exposure, and HT-29 cells are not able to counteract the effect of intracellular chelation of zinc by altering zinc transport.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obstructive jaundice secondary to neuroendocrine tumour in a patient with von Recklinghausen's disease.
Dimitrios Samonakis,Alberto Quaglia,N. M. Joshi,J. Tibballs,A. Nagree,Christos Triantos,Neil M Davies,Richard Standish,Amar P. Dhillon,Brian R. Davidson,Andrew K. Burroughs,Martyn Caplin +11 more
TL;DR: The case of a young adult with NF1, having a unique concurrence of plexiform neurofibroma involving the liver with an ampullary NET, is presented and step by step the management in a specialist centre is discussed.
