Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative study of carcinoembryonic antigen and epithelial membrane antigen expression in normal colon, adenomas and adenocarcinomas of the colon and rectum.
TL;DR: EMA expression is more specific but less sensitive than CEA for colonic cancer and is independent of tumour differentiation and site, thus selecting monoclonal antibodies to CEA or EMA based on tumour biopsies may allow improved tumour localisation for imaging or therapy in patents with colorectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electromagnetic tracking in image-guided laparoscopic surgery: Comparison with optical tracking and feasibility study of a combined laparoscope and laparoscopic ultrasound system.
Guofang Xiao,Ester Bonmati,Stephen A. Thompson,Joe Evans,John H. Hipwell,Daniil I. Nikitichev,Kurinchi Selvan Gurusamy,Sebastien Ourselin,David J. Hawkes,Brian R. Davidson,Matthew J. Clarkson +10 more
TL;DR: The errors incurred by optical trackers, due to the lever‐arm effect and variation in tracking accuracy in the depth direction, would make EM‐tracked solutions preferable if the EM sensor is placed at the proximal end of the laparoscope.
Reference EntryDOI
Effect of different pressures of pneumoperitoneum in laparoscopic cholecystectomy
Reference EntryDOI
Antiviral prophylactic intervention for chronic hepatitis C virus in patients undergoing liver transplantation
TL;DR: There is currently no evidence to recommend prophylactic antiviral treatment to prevent recurrence of HCV infection either in primary liver transplantation or re-transplantation, and further randomised clinical trials with adequate trial methodology and adequate duration of follow-up are necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inadvertent diclofenac rechallenge from generic and non-generic prescribing, leading to liver transplantation for fulminant liver failure.
Ralph R. S. H. Greaves,Anil Agarwal,David Patch,Susan E. Davies,David Sherman,Neil A Reynolds,Keith Rolles,Brian R. Davidson,Andrew K. Burroughs +8 more
TL;DR: This case report describes fulminant hepatic failure in a 53-year-old female caused by inadvertent rechallenging with diclofenac, treated by orthotopic liver transplantation.
