TL;DR: Sediment data from shallow marine cores in the western Ross Sea are presented that exhibit well dated cyclic variations, and which link the extent of the East Antarctic ice sheet directly to orbital cycles during the Oligocene/Miocene transition, suggesting that orbital influences at the frequencies of obliquity and eccentricity controlled the oscillations of the ice margin at that time.

A simple method to determine heat production from gamma-ray logs

TL;DR: In this paper, a linear relationship between the gamma ray GR and the heat production A was shown to be valid for a wide variety of lithologies extending from granite through gneiss, carbonate and amphibolite to basaltic rocks, with an error lower than 10%.

Effects of cementation on velocities of siliciclastic sediments
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of cementation on velocity, using core-plug and whole-core measurements of velocity and porosity, and found that the change from incipient to intense carbonate cementation accounts for up to 50% of total velocity increase.
