Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of the antibacterial, antivirulence, and action mechanism of Copaifera pubiflora oleoresin and isolated compounds against oral bacteria.
Thaís da Silva Moraes,Luís Fernando Leandro,Mariana B. Santiago,Larissa de Oliveira Silva,Thamires Chiquini Bianchi,Rodrigo Cassio Sola Veneziani,Sérgio Ricardo Ambrósio,S. B. Ramos,Jairo Kenupp Bastos,Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins +9 more
TL;DR: Analysis of DNA/RNA and protein release by the cell membrane demonstrated that the oleoresin and hardwiickic acid damaged the bacterial membrane irreversibly, which affected membrane integrity, and the C. pubiflora olerosin and ent-hardwickiic acid have potential antibacterial effect and can be used as new therapeutic alternatives to treat oral diseases such as dental caries and endodontic infections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial activity of Nb–aluminum oxide prepared by the non-hydrolytic sol–gel route
C. dos S. Alfenas,Gustavo Pimenta Ricci,E.H. de Faria,Michelle Saltarelli,O.J. de Lima,Z.N. da Rocha,Eduardo José Nassar,Paulo S. Calefi,Lilian Bueno Montanari,Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins,Katia J. Ciuffi +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of the antibacterial activity of Nb-aluminum oxide, designated MAC-Nb 5+, prepared by the non-hydrolytic sol-gel route were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial activity of 15-deoxygoyazensolide isolated from the stems of Minasia alpestris (Asteraceae) against oral pathogens.
Larissa Costa Keles,Fernanda Moreira Gianasi,Rafael A.C. Souza,B. L. Brito,Estela Hanauer Schaab,Maria Gorete Mendes de Souza,Tatiane Cruz de Carvalho,Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins,Rodrigo Cassio Sola Veneziani,Wilson Roberto Cunha,Antônio Eduardo Miller Crotti +10 more
TL;DR: The results revealed that this compound exhibits low antibacterial activity against the evaluated oral pathogens; however, an interesting selectivity against E. faecalis and S. sobrinus was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Susceptibility to Oral Antiseptics and Virulence Factors Ex Vivo Associated with Candida spp. Isolated from Dental Prostheses.
Amir Horiquini Barbosa,Jaqueline Lopes Damasceno,Luciana Assirati Casemiro,Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins,Regina Helena Pires,Regina Celia Candido +5 more
TL;DR: Most virulence factors investigated here (ALS2, ALS3, SAP1, and SAP3) occurred in the majority of the Candida spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
CHEMICAL STUDY OF Hortia superba (Rutaceae) AND INVESTIGATION OF THE ANTIMYCOBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF CRUDE EXTRACTS AND CONSTITUENTS ISOLATED FROM Hortia SPECIES
Vanessa Gisele Pasqualotto Severino,Afif F. Monteiro,Maria Fátima das Graças Fernandes da Silva,Rodrigo Lucarini,Carlos Henrique Gomes Martins +4 more
TL;DR: The results obtained demonstrated an inhibitory effect of the dichloromethane extract of leaves of H. oreadica on the growth of M. tuberculosis, which could be useful in the development of effective new drugs against mycobacteria.
