Journal ArticleDOI

Shiga-toxin-producing Escherichia coli and haemolytic uraemic syndrome

TL;DR: Management of HUS remains supportive; there are no specific therapies to ameliorate the course, and the best way to prevent HUS is to prevent primary infection with Shiga-toxin-producing bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hematuria in adolescents

TL;DR: Addressing isolated hematuria in a systematic, evidence-based fashion can help avoid untoward patient and parental worry and excessive health care costs, without missing treatable or progressive disease entities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of oxidative stress on telomere maintenance in aortic smooth muscle cells.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the telomere biology of aortic smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) isolated from mutant mouse models of oxidative stress and found that telomeres were significantly shorter in ASMCs isolated from superoxide dismutase 2 heterozygous (Sod2+/-) mice, which exhibit increased arterial stiffness with aging.
