The role of organic load and ammonia inhibition in anaerobic digestion of tannery fleshing

TL;DR: In this paper, batch tests on anaerobic digestion of sole tannery fleshing (skin residue waste from hides' tanning process), as sole substrate, have been performed with the purpose of assessing the effects of high substrate concentration and consequent ammonia inhibition on the process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling the disintegration process in anaerobic digestion of tannery sludge and fleshing

TL;DR: In this article, a modified version of the IWA-ADM1 model is proposed to simulate the anaerobic digestion of tannery primary sludge and fleshing, with special emphasis on the disintegration formulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Successful sulphide-driven partial denitrification: Efficiency, stability and resilience in SRT-controlled conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper , a 2.5-L chemostat was operated for 115 days and three operational phases were tested at decreasing SRT of 40, 23 and 13 h, testing S/N ratios in the range of 0.5 − 1 gS/gN.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term effects of mineral precipitation on process performance, granules' morphology and microbial community in anammox granular sludge

TL;DR: In this article , an extensive study on mineral precipitation on the surface of anammox granular sludge is presented, where a 7-L reactor was inoculated with one-year stored biomass and volumetric load up to 0.48 gN-NO2-/l/d were achieved, with nitrite removal above 95% and total nitrogen removal rate of almost 1 gN/L/d.
