Role of Chronic Inflammation in Myopia Progression: Clinical Evidence and Experimental Validation
Hui Ju Lin,Chang-Ching Wei,Ching Yao Chang,Ching Yao Chang,Ter Hsin Chen,Yu An Hsu,Yi Ching Hsieh,Hsuan Ju Chen,Lei Wan,Lei Wan +9 more
TL;DR: Clinical and experimental evidence is provided that inflammation plays a crucial role in the development of myopia and that atropine downregulated inflammation in MFD eyes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Small molecules, LLL12 and FLLL32, inhibit STAT3 and exhibit potent growth suppressive activity in osteosarcoma cells and tumor growth in mice.
Grace Ifeyinwa Onimoe,Grace Ifeyinwa Onimoe,Aiguo Liu,Aiguo Liu,Li Lin,Li Lin,Chang-Ching Wei,Eric B. Schwartz,Deepak Bhasin,Chenglong Li,James R. Fuchs,Pui-Kai Li,Peter J. Houghton,Peter J. Houghton,Amanda Termuhlen,Thomas G. Gross,Jiayuh Lin,Jiayuh Lin +17 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that constitutiveSTAT3 signaling is required for osteosarcoma survival and migration in vitro and tumor growth in vivo and blocking persistent STAT3 signaling by LLL12 and FLLL32 may be a novel therapeutic approach for ostea.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dose- and time-dependent glucocorticoid receptor signaling in podocytes
Adam J. Guess,Shipra Agrawal,Chang-Ching Wei,Richard F. Ransom,Richard F. Ransom,Rainer Benndorf,Rainer Benndorf,William E. Smoyer,William E. Smoyer +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that cultured murine podocytes express key components of the GR complex, including the GR, heat shock protein 90, and the immunophilins FK BP51 and FKBP52, and that short-term, high-dose GC treatment resulted in similar changes in gene expression and GR phosphorylation to that of long- term, low- dose GC treatment, thus providing a molecular rationale for the known efficacy of pulse GC therapy in NS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Allergic Conjunctivitis-induced Retinal Inflammation Promotes Myopia Progression
Chang-Ching Wei,Yung Jen Kung,Chih Sheng Chen,Ching Yao Chang,Chao Jen Lin,Peng-Tai Tien,Hsing-Yi Chang,Hsuan Ju Chen,Yong San Huang,Hui Ju Lin,Lei Wan +10 more
TL;DR: The experimental findings in mice corroborate the epidemiological data showing that allergic inflammation influences the development of myopia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence of infection among children with nephrotic syndrome during hospitalizations.
TL;DR: Investigation of the trends of childhood nephrotic syndrome admissions and factors associated with childhood NS admissions with major infections in Taiwan finds that children in Taiwan are more likely to be diagnosed with NS than elsewhere in the world.
