A novel experimental system for the KDK measurement of the 40K decay scheme relevant for rare event searches
M. Stukel,B. C. Rasco,B. C. Rasco,B. C. Rasco,N. T. Brewer,N. T. Brewer,N. T. Brewer,P. Di Stefano,K. P. Rykaczewski,H. Davis,Eric Lukosi,L. Hariasz,M. Constable,P. Davis,K. Dering,A. Fijałkowska,Z. Gai,K.C. Goetz,Robert Grzywacz,Robert Grzywacz,Robert Grzywacz,Joel Kostensalo,Jelena Ninkovic,P. Lechner,Yuan Liu,M. Mancuso,Charles L. Melcher,F. Petricca,Christopher M. Rouleau,P. Squillari,Luis Stand,D. W. Stracener,Jouni Suhonen,Marzena Wolinska-Cichocka,Marzena Wolinska-Cichocka,Marzena Wolinska-Cichocka,Itay Yavin +36 more
TL;DR: In this article, the branching ratio of the electron capture directly to the ground state of 40Ar has not been measured, which can cause difficulty in interpreting certain results or can lead to lack of precision depending on the field and analysis technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of ${\rm Ca}^{2+}{\rm Co}$ -Doping on the Temperature Dependence of ${\rm Gd}_{2}{\rm SiO}_{5}:{\rm Ce}$ Photoluminescence
TL;DR: The temperature dependence of the photoluminescence properties of Gd2SiO5:Ce,Ca crystals was found to be significantly affected by Ca codoping and showed that presence of additional energy levels in these crystals provided nonradiative energy transfer as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studying the effects of thermally diffusing Ce into the surface of YAlO3 for associated particle imaging
Michael E. Moore,Cordell Delzer,Jeremy Watts,Brianna L. Musico,Chen Xu,Robyn Collette,Philip D. Rack,Yanwen Zhang,Charles L. Melcher,Seth M McConchie,Jason P. Hayward +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, an alpha-sensitive, Ce-doped surface region of Yttrium Aluminium Perovskite (YAP) was found to be 1.02 ± 0.10 eV and 9.7 ± 2.0 × 10 - 15 m 2 s - 1, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
A phoswich detector design for improved spatial sampling in PET
Jonathan D. Thiessen,Jonathan D. Thiessen,Jonathan D. Thiessen,Merry Koschan,Charles L. Melcher,Fang Meng,Graham Schellenberg,Andrew L. Goertzen +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 4 × 4 phoswich array was constructed, with each PHOSwich element consisting of two optically coupled, 3. 17 × 1. 58 × 10 mm 3 LSO crystals co-doped with cerium and calcium.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Design of a prototype system to measure the non-proportional response of scintillators using angular information
Samuel B. Donnald,Harold Rothfuss,Mitchell A. Laubach,Joshua W. Cates,Jason P. Hayward,Merry Koschan,Charles L. Melcher +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a prototype system was designed to efficiently measure the non-proportional electron response of scintillation materials using only angular information and the well known Compton formula which relates scattering angle and energy.
