Journal ArticleDOI

Pharmacological characterization of cardiac histamine receptors: sensitivity to H1-and H2-receptor agonists and antagonists.

TL;DR: Results substantiate the hypothesis that H2-receptors mediate the histamine-induced increase in rate and contractility, whereas H1-receptionors mediates the slowing of atrioventricular conduction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dysrhythmias caused by histamine release in guinea pig and human hearts.

TL;DR: It is proposed that histamine release produced by drugs and surgical procedures may be an overlooked factor in fatal cardiac arrhythmias and experimental studies suggest that selective pharmacological methods can be developed to block the arrh rhythmogenic effects of histamine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intracellular calcium ions as regulators of renal tubular sodium transport.

TL;DR: The putative role of intracellular calcium ions in the regulation of sodium transport by renal tubules is addressed and calcium ions inhibit net transport of sodium by reducing the rate of sodium entry across the luminal cell membrane.
