Towards a Better Understanding of GABAergic Remodeling in Alzheimer’s Disease
Karan Govindpani,Beatriz Calvo-Flores Guzmán,Chitra Vinnakota,Henry J. Waldvogel,Richard L.M. Faull,Andrea Kwakowsky +5 more
TL;DR: Given the limited scope of currently available therapies in modifying the course of the disease, a better understanding of GABAergic remodeling in AD could open up innovative and novel therapeutic opportunities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular Dysfunction in Alzheimer's Disease: A Prelude to the Pathological Process or a Consequence of It?
Karan Govindpani,Laura G McNamara,Nicholas R Smith,Chitra Vinnakota,Henry J Waldvogel,Richard L.M. Faull,Andrea Kwakowsky +6 more
TL;DR: The various aspects of vascular dysfunction in AD are considered, which has a significant impact on brain metabolism and homeostasis and the clearance of β-amyloid and other toxic metabolites.
Journal ArticleDOI
The GABAergic system as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease
Beatriz Calvo-Flores Guzmán,Chitra Vinnakota,Karan Govindpani,Henry J. Waldvogel,Richard L.M. Faull,Andrea Kwakowsky +5 more
TL;DR: There is growing evidence in support of GABAergic remodeling in the AD brain, potentially beginning in early stages of disease pathogenesis, and this could thus be a valid molecular target for drug development and pharmacological therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of high sperm DNA fragmentation in a targeted population of subfertile men
TL;DR: This study shows that SDF testing can be targeted based on age and sperm motility, thereby reducing unnecessary testing and provides evidence that lifestyle modifications can reduce DNA fragmentation in men with high DFI.
