Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and Safety of Outpatient Treatment Based on the Hestia Clinical Decision Rule with or without N-Terminal Pro–Brain Natriuretic Peptide Testing in Patients with Acute Pulmonary Embolism. A Randomized Clinical Trial
P.L. den Exter,Wendy Zondag,Frederikus A. Klok,R.E. Brouwer,J. Dolsma,Michiel Eijsvogel,Laura M. Faber,M.A.G. van Gerwen,Marco J. J. H. Grootenboers,Roxanne Heller-Baan,Marcel M. C. Hovens,G.J.P.M. Jonkers,K.W. van Kralingen,Christian F Melissant,Henny G. Peltenburg,J. P. Post,M.A. van de Ree,L Thom Vlasveld,M.J.M. De Vreede,Menno V. Huisman,Investigators Vesta Study +20 more
TL;DR: Outpatient treatment of patients with PE selected on the basis of the Hestia criteria alone was associated with a low risk of adverse events and comparisons with N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) testing were compared.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of two methods for selection of out of hospital treatment in patients with acute pulmonary embolism.
Wendy Zondag,P.L. den Exter,M.J.T. Crobach,Anneke Dolsma,Marjolein L. Donker,Michiel Eijsvogel,Laura M. Faber,Herman M.A. Hofstee,Karin A H Kaasjager,Marieke J. H. A. Kruip,G. Labots,Christian F Melissant,M.S.G. Sikkens,M.V. Huisman +13 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the Hestia criteria may identify a proportion of high risk sPESI patiennts who can be safely treated at home, this however requires further validation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hestia criteria can discriminate high- from low-risk patients with pulmonary embolism
Wendy Zondag,Birgitta I Hiddinga,Monique J T Crobach,Geert Labots,Anneke Dolsma,Marc F. Durian,Laura M. Faber,Herman M.A. Hofstee,Christian F Melissant,Eric F. Ullmann,Lies M A Vingerhoets,Mariëlle J M de Vreede,Menno V. Huisman,Hestia Study Investigators +13 more
TL;DR: This study showed that the Hestia criteria can discriminate PE patients with low risk from patients with high risk for adverse clinical outcome, and the low-risk patients can safely be treated at home.
Journal ArticleDOI
Uncertain Value of High-sensitive Troponin T for Selecting Patients With Acute Pulmonary Embolism for Outpatient Treatment by Hestia Criteria.
Stephan V. Hendriks,Mareike Lankeit,Paul L. den Exter,Wendy Zondag,R.E. Brouwer,Michiel Eijsvogel,Marco J. J. H. Grootenboers,Laura M. Klok,Menno V. Huisman +18 more
TL;DR: This work aims to demonstrate the importance of knowing the carrier and removal status of canine coronavirus, as a source of infection for other animals, not necessarily belonging to the same breeds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reasons for Hospitalization of Patients with Acute Pulmonary Embolism Based on the Hestia Decision Rule
Stephan V. Hendriks,Paul L. den Exter,Wendy Zondag,R.E. Brouwer,Michiel Eijsvogel,Marco J. J. H. Grootenboers,Laura M. Faber,Roxanne Heller-Baan,Herman M.A. Hofstee,Antonio del Sol,Marieke J. H. A. Kruip,Albert T. A. Mairuhu,Christian F Melissant,Henny G. Peltenburg,Marcel A. van de Ree,Erik H. Serné,Menno V. Huisman,Frederikus A. Klok,Hestia,Vesta investigators +19 more
TL;DR: The most frequent reason for hospital admission was oxygen therapy, and in the decision to award the subjective criterion as sole argument for admission, the severity of the RV overload and resulting hemodynamic response of the patient was taken into account rather than just abnormal RV/LV ratio.
