Journal ArticleDOI
Functional organization of the yeast proteome by systematic analysis of protein complexes
Anne-Claude Gavin,Markus Bösche,Roland Krause,Paola Grandi,Martina Marzioch,Andreas Bauer,Jörg Schultz,Jens Rick,Anne-Marie Michon,Cristina-Maria Cruciat,Marita Remor,Christian Höfert,Malgorzata Schelder,Miro Brajenovic,Heinz Ruffner,Alejandro Merino,Karin Klein,Manuela Hudak,David Dickson,Tatjana Rudi,Volker Gnau,Angela Bauch,Sonja Bastuck,Bettina Huhse,Christina Leutwein,Marie-Anne Heurtier,Richard R. Copley,Angela Edelmann,Erich Querfurth,Vladimir Rybin,Gerard Drewes,Manfred Raida,Tewis Bouwmeester,Peer Bork,Bertrand Séraphin,Bernhard Kuster,Gitte Neubauer,Giulio Superti-Furga +37 more
TL;DR: The analysis provides an outline of the eukaryotic proteome as a network of protein complexes at a level of organization beyond binary interactions, which contains fundamental biological information and offers the context for a more reasoned and informed approach to drug discovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure-Based Assembly of Protein Complexes in Yeast
Patrick Aloy,Bettina Böttcher,Hugo Ceulemans,Christina Leutwein,Christian Mellwig,Susanne Fischer,Anne-Claude Gavin,Peer Bork,Giulio Superti-Furga,Luis Serrano,Robert B. Russell +10 more
TL;DR: Interactions of known three-dimensional structure are used to model a large set of yeast complexes and suggest atomic details not easily seen by homology, involving the combination of two or more known structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
A complex prediction: three-dimensional model of the yeast exosome.
Patrick Aloy,Francesca D. Ciccarelli,Christina Leutwein,Anne-Claude Gavin,Giulio Superti-Furga,Peer Bork,Bettina Böttcher,Robert B. Russell +7 more
TL;DR: A model of the yeast exosome based on the bacterial degradosome component polynucleotide phosphorylase (PNPase) is presented and suggests numerous experiments to probe exosomes function, particularly with respect to subunits making direct atomic contacts and conserved, possibly functional residues within the predicted central pore of the complex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional organization of the yeast proteome by systemic analysis of protein complexes
Anne-Claude Gavin,Paola Grandi,Markus Boesche,Roland Krause,Christina Leutwein,Bernhard Kuster,Giulio Superti-Furga +6 more

Protein complexes and methods for their use
Andreas Bauer,Anne-Claude Gavin,Gulio Superti-Furga,Bernhard Kuster,Jörg Schultz,Martina Marzioch,Paola Grandi,Roland Krause,Ulrich Kruse,Alejandro Merino,Angela Bauch,Anne-Marie Michon,Christina Leutwein,Jens Rick +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to obtain multiprotein complexes from eukaryotes by using a protein as a bait and isolating the set of proteins which are attached thereto from cells.
