Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective Multicenter Study of Myocardial Recovery Using Left Ventricular Assist Devices (RESTAGE-HF [Remission from Stage D Heart Failure]): Medium-Term and Primary End Point Results.
Emma J. Birks,Emma J. Birks,Stavros G. Drakos,Snehal R. Patel,Brian D. Lowes,Craig H. Selzman,Randall C. Starling,Jaimin R. Trivedi,Mark S. Slaughter,Pavin Alturi,Daniel J. Goldstein,S. Maybaum,J. Um,Kenneth B. Margulies,Josef Stehlik,Christopher Cunningham,David J. Farrar,J.E. Rame,J.E. Rame +18 more
TL;DR: In this multicenter prospective study, a protocol of optimized LVAD mechanical unloading, combined with standardized specific pharmacological therapy to induce reverse remodeling and regular testing of underlying myocardial function resulted in a high rate of LVAD explantation and was feasible and reproducible with explants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental and occupational risk factors for progressive supranuclear palsy: Case-control study
Irene Litvan,Irene Litvan,Peter S.J. Lees,Christopher Cunningham,Shesh N. Rai,Alexander C. Cambon,David G. Standaert,Connie Marras,Jorge L. Juncos,David E. Riley,Stephen G. Reich,Deborah A. Hall,Benzi M. Kluger,Yvette Bordelon,David Shprecher +14 more
TL;DR: The cause of progressive supranuclear palsy is largely unknown, but it is hypothesized that the disease may be related to exposure to environmental toxins, some of which are mitochondrial inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between uric acid levels and progressive supranuclear palsy.
David M. Brody,Irene Litvan,Irene Litvan,Steve Warner,David E. Riley,Deborah A. Hall,Benzi M. Kluger,David Shprecher,Christopher Cunningham +8 more
TL;DR: This work investigated whether a low serum concentration of uric acid is also associated with PSP, and found that it is.
