On the determination of the spin of the black hole in Cyg X-1 from X-ray reflection spectra
Andrew C. Fabian,Dan R. Wilkins,Jon M. Miller,Rubens C. Reis,Christopher S. Reynolds,Edward M. Cackett,Edward M. Cackett,Michael A. Nowak,Guy G. Pooley,Katja Pottschmidt,Katja Pottschmidt,Jeremy S. Sanders,Randy R. Ross,Jörn Wilms +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spin of Cygnus X-1 was measured by fitting reflection models to Suzaku data covering the energy band 0.9-400 keV, and the inner radius of the accretion disc was found to lie within 2 gravitational radii (r_g=GM/c^2).
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective activation of Gαob by an adenosine A_1 receptor agonist elicits analgesia without cardiorespiratory depression
Mark J. Wall,Emily Hill,Robert T. R. Huckstepp,Kerry Barkan,Giuseppe Deganutti,Michele Leuenberger,B Preti,Ian Winfield,Sabrina Carvalho,Anna Suchánková,Haifeng Wei,Dewi Safitri,Xianglin Huang,Wendy L. Imlach,Circe La Mache,Eve Dean,Cherise Hume,Stephanie Hayward,Jess Oliver,Fei-Yue Zhao,David Spanswick,Christopher S. Reynolds,Martin Lochner,Graham Ladds,Bruno G. Frenguelli +24 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a benzyloxy-cyclopentyladenosine (BnOCPA) was found to be a potent and powerful analgesic but does not cause sedation, bradycardia, hypotension or respiratory depression.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-ray dips in the seyfert galaxy fairall 9: Compton-thick "cOMETS" or a failed radio galaxy?
Anne M. Lohfink,Anne M. Lohfink,Christopher S. Reynolds,Christopher S. Reynolds,Richard F. Mushotzky,Richard F. Mushotzky,Jörn Wilms +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the spectral variability of Fairall 9 using almost 6 years of monitoring with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer with an approximate time resolution of 4 days.
Journal ArticleDOI
High resolution Chandra HETG and RXTE observations of GRS 1915+105 : A hot disk atmosphere & cold gas enriched in Iron and Silicon
Julia C. Lee,Christopher S. Reynolds,Norbert S. Schulz,Ron Remillard,Eric G. Blackman,A. C. Fabian +5 more
TL;DR: The time-averaged 30 ks Chandra HETGS observation of the micro-quasar GRS 1915+105 in the low hard state reveals for the first time in this source neutral K absorption edges from Fe, Si, Mg, & S ionized resonance absorption from H-, and He-like Fe (XXV, XXVI), Ca XX and possibly emission from neutral Fe Kalpha and ionized Fe XXV (forbidden, or the resonance emission component of a P-Cygni profile) are also seen as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-Ray Reverberation From Black Hole Accretion Disks with Realistic Geometric Thickness.
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of accretion disk geometry has on reverberation signatures, assuming a lamppost configuration but allowing for a finite disk scale height, has been investigated in the presence of off-axis point-like flares.
